This assignment came at the perfect time! As many of you know, MCPSS is preparing to transition to online school. I spent the day working with my team preparing lessons, so I have used several of these tools today. Most of them were new to me though! I plan to use these to engage my students during this strange time when they may be working from home. I will continue to use these websites once we return to campus. They’re great for all subjects, but I have found that I LOVE using them to review phonics, and for quick science and social studies assessments.
I choose to use Quizizz to create a phonics assessment, and Kahoot! for a math assessment. My phonics assessment focuses on r-controlled vowels, which we will be working on when we return from Spring Break. My Kahoot! reviews adding two-digit numbers, which we will also be teaching soon! I can’t wait to try these with my first graders!

Quizzizz is an online tool that can be used to create engaging assessments for students of all ages. Kahoot! is similar, but with a few differences. Kahoot! can be played in class as a live competition, or it played individually on your own time.
I didn’t run into any difficulties while creating my assessments. Both tools and user-friendly and easy to navigate.
I also used Quizizz for one of my assessment tools. I really liked how you could select quizzes that have been created by someone else and edit them to fit your individual needs or you could easily create your own. I found the site to be user friendly and is set up to really capture the students’ attention.
