- Creating this learning theory matrix gave me the opportunity to review behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism. I did not previously know about connectivism, so I was able to learn quite a lot. While reading about each theory, I took the time to reflect on my own teaching. I thought about how I use technology in my classroom in relation to each theory. I found many new tools that are available for my students to collaborate, research, and connect.
- I created my matrix using Word. I began by researching behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and connectivism. I used the websites provided by Dr. Gaston, as well as the following websites to find more information about the four learning theories: https://gsi.berkeley.edu/gsi-guide-contents/learning-theory-research/learning-overview/, https://www.learning-theories.com/
- The most challenging problem I had while completing this matrix was grasping the concept of connectivism.

I too related the technology I currently use in the classroom to provide examples relating to each theory. I have heard of the these theories or at least heard the words behavorism, connectivism, etc, but I never really understood them or knew what I already use was categorized. After learning more about these theories, I will be more aware and mindful while implementing technology in my classroom.

Hi Brooke! Creating this learning theory matrix also allowed me to brush up on my knowledge of behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism. Connectivism was new to me as well. I think I am still leaning more on the behaviorism theory. The process of actually making the matrix was not hard once I understood what it was. I also faced the challenge of understanding Connectivism. I also faced the challenge of applying different types of technology to all of the theories. I could actually see myself using the concept of a learning matrix with my students.

First, I want to applaud you for changing your cover photo. I LOVE THIS ONE! Connectivism was new for me, too, even though I have been in education since 1996! Throughout the week I found myself considering whether one thing or another was considered Connectivism…and it was actually kind of fun to think about something new–kind of edgy. I want to compliment you on your matrix and the links you used. I LOVE padlet, by the way, and I often use it with preservice teachers to make virtual posters (I know that isn’t the correct use of “virtual”, Dr. G).

Connectivism was hard for me to grasp, as well. When I was in school, we barely has cell phones and wee not using anything technology-wise in class. I think its great that with this evolving educational system, standards and theories are changing so that we can better educate our students. I strive to use as much technology in my class as possible,such as Padlet. It is very new to me but I love it!
